Research & Publications
The research scope of the Nicotine Science Center lies within the field of pharmaceutical science. More specifically the research areas of interest are:
- Pharmacokinetics with focus on absorption of nicotine in the buccal cavity and alveolar areas
- Pharmacodynamics with focus on desired and undesired effects of nicotine on the body
- Oral drug delivery systems as vehicles for nicotine
- Medication adherence with focus on patients' motivation to take prescribed medication; including identifying and addressing potential barriers to treatment adherence.
The Nicotine Science Center funds and facilitates selected research projects and engages in research partnerships with leading researchers, universities and relevant organizations that fit into the Center’s overall and long term research programs and budgets. The ambition is to continuously fund and facilitate research projects within our research areas of interest.
